The Top 10 Reasons to Enter the Sammies
The Sammies are our awards for creative and effective citizen leadership. Now, here's a list of the top ten reasons why you should enter our contest. Some of them may surprise you...
10. The chicks (or dudes) dig it. What's not to admire about citizens endeavoring to protect freedom and promote greater government accountability and transparency? These citizens deserve to be praised--and you could really score a lot of dates by being one of them.
9. Your parents will finally be proud of you. OK, we're sure your parents are already proud of you-but imagine how much more proud they'd be if you spent some of your time promoting responsible government practices, or getting the word out about government corruption?
8. Your office could really use some decoration--like a golden Sam Adams bobblehead. In addition to recognition and a cash prize, you'll receive a golden-colored Sam Adams bobblehead to display proudly in your office or home, reminding you of your accomplishments. And, trust us, these are pretty snazzy decorative items.
7. Your bank account could really use $5,000. (Or $10,000!) Sure, it's not all about the money, but a job well done deserves a reward. We want to reward citizens for their efforts to defend liberty with outstanding leadership and creativity.
6. You could be famous! We can't guarantee you a place in People magazine, but the Sammies seek to publicize citizen efforts that may not have received adequate attention, and to encourage more people to stand up for good government in their communities. We want to spotlight you for your good work. (And, as a bonus, there are no paparazzi involved in this recognition.)
5. Let's face it: those ____________ reruns are getting old. You need a new project. Our rights and freedoms are being constantly assaulted--roll up your sleeves and get involved. This is a project really worth your time and effort...and your TiVo will be there when you're finished.
4. It could launch your political career. So you're aware of the problems that we have in government--great, that's the first step to take toward fixing them. There's a lot to be done to improve citizens' access to government information, and how they're represented in government. So stop thinking about it--do it!
3. You'd be invited to a great party. We aren't the beer company, but we do like drinking it. That's why you won't want to miss our Sammies celebration in Chicago. We're still ironing out the details, but you can rest assured that, as a winner, you'd be invited to the best Tea Party all year.
2. It's fun. We can't even begin to tell you how many outtakes we have after filming our Action Toolkit Theatre videos, or how many blog entries have caused a ruccus among the Samployees. Learning about important things is fun, but presenting them creatively is even funner.
1. Freedom needs your help. Today, many of the basic freedoms and rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are under attack by the very government that was formed to protect them-a government that is increasingly overreaching, unaccountable, and out of control. You, however, can take part in fighting back. The Sammies are all about spotlighting and rewarding citizens working to defend liberty.
